Australia-Taiwan ICT Cluster 'SmartTrack'

The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), through its Australia-Taiwan ICT Cluster and Taiwan partners under the Australia-Taiwan Strategic Framework Agreement (ATSFA), has initiated the SmartTrack project consortium. The consortium comprises companies, both in Australia and in Taiwan, that have agreed to work together to cooperatively develop a market solution that addresses export compliance processes.

In particular through the application of automated tracking devices such as radio-frequency-identification (RFID) and Web2.0 collaborative internet technologies the consortium is seeking to provide capability to develop a system for tracking perishable goods through international freight.

Tradefacilitate Ltd. (Ireland)

Project 'Eureka' (2007 - 2008)

Project 'Eureka' was the Australian, and world first extension of the successful EU eTEN funded 'Clearview' project.

'Clearview' delivered between an initial five (5) EU countries an internet based service accessed through internet browsers providing cross border trade documents, and in a paper-free environment.

Tradefacilitate Ltd. provided the 'Software as a Service' (SaaS) platform to 'Project Eureka' which extended the EU eTEN developed 'Clearview' capability and enables both international and domestic supply-chains to process their cross border trade documentation electronically in a paper-free environment that is a low-cost, secure, online solution which cuts red tape and increases competitiveness throughout supply chains.

The Tradefacilitate Ltd SaaS will assist SME's and developing economies meet, and gain advantage, from the new EU import requirements for approval to load 24 hours before loading cargo, 'pre-departure'.

The 24 hours notification and approval 'pre-departure' legislation becomes effective progressively from July 2009 and is mandatory by January 2011. The US and China are implementing similar cross border trade data requirements.

AEC is the only indendent project management company that can demonstrate having been directly involved in the EU eTEN 'Clearview' project, and has also contributed to the UN/ECE and WCO MoU by the voluntary work AEC has undertaken within UN/CEFACT.

Involvement that successfully extended, through project 'Eureka', paper-free shipments into the EU from a country external to the EU. Australian wine exported paper-free into Ireland.

The model that AEC developed with Tradefaciliate Ltd. during the 18 month 'Eureka' project provides the template to project repeatability and is currently being rolled out globally.
